Beginner guitarist

Postby rollwithit42 » 09 Jan 2015, 18:07

Hi, since i started following Oasis back in 1994, ive dreamed about learning to play my favourite Oasis songs on the guitar. I now have a guitar and im trying to learn the basics before I try figure out how to play some of Noels songs. Does anyone have any welcome advice for a beginner learning the guitar and how to work out how to play some of their hits please ? I can do the open chords, I have the Oasis guitar song book but a lot of the chords seem too far advanced for me to work out how to play and change between them, I would like to learn Boneheads rhythm guitar parts mixed with some solos from Noel, is there any tab sites that show the rhythm bar chords etc and the solos ?

Any help is welcome and appreciated

The first song I learnt to play was Live Forever - fairly straightforward if you already know open chords: G D Am7 C D (Am7 is C without the 3rd finger). If you're just starting out then don't worry too much about the actual strumming pattern - a single strum for each number count will give an idea where it's going. In the case of Live Forever it's: G (1 2 3 4) D (1 2 3 4) Am7 (1 2 3 4) C (1 2) D (3 4). Hope that makes sense. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your reply and advice. I can do that, does Bonehead play barre chords in live forever or open chords for the rhythm part ? Can you play loads of OASIS songs and the solos ? Im trying to learn some might say and be here now aswell, I guess im ambitious beginner. I have a Fender Frontman 212 R amp but the sound is awful, so jangly no shape to the clean sound and too much of the awful distortion nowt like Oasis tone so not sure what to do to get a decent tone.

As far as I know Bonehead played both open and barre chords in Live Forever. I'm no expert when it comes to gear but a Marshall combo might do the trick. To be honest I'd concentrate on learning the instrument before spending a load of money on equipment.
