Those Inspired By Oasis

Postby Sancty » 09 Mar 2011, 01:23

So I'm in this Music In Popular Culture course at Laurentian University (Canada) and my main paper for the course is to write a paper on a band and give some credence to those that inspired them and another band/artist who was in turn inspired by the title band.

Obviously, I'm doing Oasis and the inspiration is easy with The Beatles, however I do find myself struggling somewhat with a band inspired by Oasis. Part of the problem I reckon is my distance from the UK scene... I konw of significant comments by Green Day, Weezer & Limp Bizkit from the 90s showing appreciation, although stating influence would be a bit much (thankfully this is especially true for the latter). I know Coldplay has mentioned some influence but they're really more associated with U2 than Oasis.

The Pete Doherty Be Here Now clip is legendary but did Babyshambles/Libertines ever really demonstrate any musical connection to the Brothers Gallagher?

I will mention Beady Eye somewhere but considering it's Oasis minus Noel I won't really hang my hat on that too much.

So I'm leaning on the community to help me out if you can.

Cheers
