casino or dot?

Postby tomlee94 » 28 Nov 2009, 01:17

With christmas coming up, I'm getting a new guitar.
I was wondering what people would recomend, an epiphone dot with upgraded pick ups or an epiphone casino.
What are the main differences between the 2?
Sorry if it's a bit of a stupid question, i aint got a clue about guitars

Epiphone Dot= Semi-hollow body and humbucking pickups. Semi-hollow body means there is a slab of wood through the middle of the body and the outsides are hollow. Humbucking pickups have dual coils and have more midrange.

Epiphone Casino= Body is completely hollow and has P-90 single coil pickups. Single coils have more bite than humbuckers,

Both are great guitars. It just depends on what sound you want. Play 'em both and decide which you like better. Or just get both of them.

Also try the Epiphone Sheraton and Riviera. Also semi-hollowbody guitars within same price range and used by Oasis.
Sheraton = humbuckers and riviera = mini humbuckers.

what would be the difference between mini humbuckers and normal humbuckers?
And do you think it would be alright for playing arctic monkeys, kasabian, the strokes and things like razorlight aswell as oasis?
Cheers for your help

The riviera would be very good to play Oasis since bonehead and noel used one. The guy from the strokes also used an riviera if iam right. Arctic monkeys should also be very douable there first album was played with strats/tele's , the second and third one jamie uses an gibson es 335 semi hollow. Kasabian will also be douable i think.
Semi-hollows are all-round guitars so can be used for everything except hardrock/metal etc.

And you dont wanna play Razorlight cause thats s**t.
