Yes. It's basically the exact same guitar. The Sheraton is just cooler looking. It has awesome inlays on the fretboard and headstock, and there is binding all over the guitar. That's why it costs more than the Dot.

It's just like how the Gibson ES-355 costs so much more than the ES-335.

The Sheraton has a different neck than the dot.

The Sheraton has a 3-piece maple neck and the Dot has a 1-piece mahogany neck.

Otherwise, they're very very similar aside from the cosmetics.

I've got a Dot, best purchase I've ever made. Thing is though, I got mine about 5/6 years ago before they changed them and lowered the price by £150.
Also I'm led to believe it is Gibson pick ups that are in mine which is no longer the case and I'm assuming that's why they are £150 cheaper now than they were a few years back.
I only bought the Dot because I couldn't afford a Shraton, however, I'm over the moon I got the Dot, It's phenomenal!

Unless someone else put them in there, or you ahve an Elitist Dot, your pickups are epiphone pickups. The Dot ahs not been significantly changed in the past 8-10 years, aside from an upgrade of hardware and electronics since around 2006-2007. In all honesty, the stock pickups in an epiphone today are much BETTER than the stock pickups of 5-6 years ago just because they've ironed out supplier inconsistencies, as they have with a lot of their production. Either way, epiphone pickups are still only mediocre when pushed, though the new ones sound nice played clean or with only mild distortion. Epiphones generally respond very well to an immediate pickup replacement.

If you Dot was made in Korea, they tend to have a better reputation than otehr locations, though many now argue that the dedicated plant in china is putting out excellent quality these days.

If you have an Elitist Dot, that's a different story. those were Japanese made and have Gibson USA electronics and hardware. They are great guitars.

casino or dot?

hey guys new to the forum and this is my fisrt post. as far as your question goes its a matter of personal preference i have both a casino and a dot. the casino doesnt really respond quite well to high gain due to it being fully hollowbody but the neck is slim and fast to play it screams when you have it on slight crunch. the dot on the other hand can respond well to higher gain and the neck is slightly thicker. i love mine both to death. but like i said before its personal prefernce play them both with a set up similar to your own and let your ears judge. hope this helps man

too right, plus epiphone and gibson are changing their distribution into the UK. so if your guna get something, get something where if you ever sell it, the resale will be a little better. ie sheraton or casino. dots are good, i may well add a dot studio to my collection at some point, but id have to make loads of alterations. Sheratons tone is beautful.
