TREMOLO PEDAL

Postby sisi » 02 Feb 2010, 13:14

Hi,

I've just bought a Tremolo pedal. Where is the best place to put this in the chain as i've read conflicting theories (at the beginning or near the end).

My current set up is:

Guitar
Tuner
Overdrive

Loop:
Chorus
Delay

Thanks

Put it after your overdrive. Not only is this the best signal position it's also the easiest position for activation if you're right footed.

There's no right or wrong answer really. Try different positions and see what they sound like. Eventually you'll find a spot you like. You can get some pretty interesting tones by mixing up pedal locations from what's standard. I'm a big fan of putting delay after distortion. One of my favorite bands, Calla, puts reverb at the very beginning of the chain.

I put the tremelo near the end of my chain as if you think about it, along with reverb, tremelo is often a feature on some amps so it naturally comes at the end of a chain if it's built in to an amp.

However, like the fella above says, it's all a matter of opinion and putting it near the front of the chain might get you some really cool sounds and might effect your other pedals (especially a phaser or a delay) in really cool ways.

Mess about with it and see what suits you best mate.
